SALEH HERNANDEZ-CASSIS, M.D.
Internal Medicine and Geriatrics
Dr. Hernandez-Cassis received his degree in medicine from the Universidad de Cartagena in Colombia. He completed a rotating internship at the Hospital General de Barranquilla and received training in Internal Medicine at the Hospital Universitario de Barranquilla in Colombia. He was a resident in Geriatrics and Gerontology at the Hospital Central de la Cruz Roja in Madrid, Spain. Dr. Hernandez-Cassis also completed a fellowship in Geriatric Medicine at the University of Miami, Jackson Memorial Hospital and Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Division of Gerontology and Geriatric Medicine in Miami. He continues to be a volunteer Voluntary Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Miami.
Dr. Hernandez-Cassis has dedicated his practice to the field of Geriatrics. He was the Director and Plan Creator of the Home Care Program at the Social Security Institute in Barranquilla. He also served as an Associate Professor of Geriatrics on the faculty of the School of Medicine at the Universidad Del Norte in Barranquilla. He joined the CAC-Florida Medical Centers in 2006.
Dr. Hernandez-Cassis is a Diplomate, Spanish Society of Gerontology and Geriatrics and Colombian Association of Gerontology and Geriatrics. He is a member of the American Geriatric Society, Florida Geriatric Society, Florida Medical Association and Colombian Association of Geriatrics and Gerontology and served as Scientific Director of the Atlantic Medical-Surgical Society. He received the Merit to Honor award recognizing his role as the creator of the Colombian Association of Third Age. Dr. Hernandez-Cassis was also bestowed the Plaque of Recognition from the Gerontology Association in Soledad, Colombia for founding “Happy Autumn.” He was also awarded a Plaque of Recognition from Kiwanis International as pioneer in chronic and terminally ill patient care in Barranquilla. Dr. Hernandez-Cassis has numerous publications on aging, anti-aging and osteoporosis.
Dr. Hernandez-Cassis sees patients at the Kendall CAC-Florida Medical Center.
